There
are apprenticeships in almost every different area of the building
and construction industry. Which apprenticeship is right for you
will depend on your interests, your experience and the opportunities
in your area.
Apprenticeships
are “competency based”. It’s all about demonstrating
you have the ability (both in terms of knowledge and skill) to
complete a task – you are seen to be competent and can work
towards becoming qualified. It means that apprenticeships take
no more or no less time than it takes for you to show that you
can demonstrate your skill.
When
you train through the BCITO hard work pays off, you learn skills
that don't just build doors-they open them! While you're working
towards gaining a National Certificate you'll be building your
knowledge and getting valuable hands on work experience. You even
get paid while you're learning. It's a great way to build your
career!
If
an apprenticeship in the building and construction industry sounds
like the right choice for you check out the different qualifications
on www.bcito.org.nz or for more
information contact your local BCITO office on 0800 422 486.
Currently
there are nine apprentices working for C.A. Robinson Builders
Ltd who are all at various stages of their apprenticeship. Steve
Tuck – Waikato Representative for the BCITO, works closely
with all our apprentices to ensure they are meeting current standards
and expectations.
